After the first initial mock up (top left image), I chose the color scheme and hand-written crayon style for the text - borrowing heavily from the Dr. Seuss children's book covers from my childhood. I went through a few iterations: more gears; alternate color font; to two colors; and finally landed on the image below.
After finalizing, we wound up using a version with blue text for final production, but I still like the above image because of its simplicity.
